Be Mine

“You are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1 ESV

The message was crystal clear.

In the days before Valentine’s, a message was made quite plain …

Be mine.

Two small words that say, “Look, I’ve started something, now it’s your turn to respond.”

Be mine because I’ve already chosen to be yours.

In Isaiah 43:1 God says, “You are mine.”

And whether you know it, ignore it, or deny it, is beside the point.

We are his. How do we know? Well, we could roam all over the Bible and find verse after verse of God’s love for us, but for the sake of space and time, let’s just take in Isaiah 43 for a bit.

God says, “You are mine.”

I created you (v.1)

I formed you (v.1)

I have redeemed you (v.1)

I have called you by name (v.1)

When you pass through water and fire, I’ll be with you (v.2)

I am the Lord your God (v.3)

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior (v.3)

You are precious in my eyes (v.4)

You are honored (v.4)

I love you (v.4)

I will gather you from afar (v.5-6)

You are my witness (v.10)

You are my servant I have chosen (v.10)

I make a way through your wildernesses and your deserts (v.19)

I give drink to my chosen people (v.20)

I blot our your transgressions for my own sake (v.25)

I will not remember your sins (v.25)

In verse 26 God says, “Put me in remembrance.”

Put these things before you. Walk, rise, and rest remembering these things. They are promises, and you have a God who already claims you.

The day before Valentine’s Day, a package came in the mail for my daughter. Flowers from her Daddy. They were in a box …

Okay God, I get it.

Be His. Deeper and more full than you’ve ever been.
