Quiet Too Long!
“They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting…” 2Chronicles 15:14
(Gentlemen, I hope you don’t mind, this one is for the ladies today)
Has anyone heard you roar lately?
Have you leaned back and let it out?
Maybe it’s time to.
Maybe it’s time to tell the world—you are here, you have a purpose, you’re making a difference.
Go ahead, do it right now if you want. Let the roar be heard!!
Maybe a little Katy Perry type of a roaring—I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire, ’cause I am a champion, and you’re going to hear me roarrrrrrr.
That kind of roaring?
A bit different than what we’re taught.
I mean we’ve all heard countless of times of being a Gentle Spirit. Yes, it’s a thing of beauty. It’s what we should strive after. It’s a gift from the Holy Spirit. I’m not disputing that. But there is one thing to be a gentle spirit and another who roars for the Lord.
We shout to the heavens with our problems.
We shout to the heavens with our complaints.
We curse God in the middle of difficulties.
Why then not roar with the message of the Savior?
Why then, not roar to let others know—
we ARE champions,
we ARE saved,
we ARE daughters of the King?
I love the beginning of the story of Jeremiah the prophet. He and God are having a conversation about his pending prophecy. God puts it out there:
Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified…They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you. Jeremiah 1:17-19
I love exclamation points!
I love them even more when they’re in the words God wrote down. I think He means something when He tags one on.
So, Ladies—get yourselves ready! Stand up!
Roar!
Be the daughters of the king that you were born to. Our world needs you. Our world needs loud voices speaking biblical Truths. Our world needs women who warn against the wrong, praise the right, and share the blessings that only God can give.
Are you up for the task?
Please say yes. Please don’t shrink back down and say you can’t. Please take hold of the purpose you are here for…to share the news of the Creator that made the creation—you. That is our first purpose for being on this earth. Everything comes after the fact. Everything comes second behind that very truth.
So why not roar?
It’s not ladylike?
It’s not biblical?
It’s not acceptable?
Phooey.
It’s very ladylike.
It’s very biblical.
It’s very acceptable.
Ask the prophets of old who roared when needed. God had something to say, so through them, by golly, they said it.
Ask Queen Esther when she was met with a dilemma. Her roaring thru bucking the system, saved the Jews.
Ask the Queen of Sheba who led a country. I doubt you hold that position without a little roaring. She was a woman of God.
These people roared when they had to. Words needed to be said—lives needed to be saved—a message of God needed to be heard. Silence was not an option.
We have a huge responsibility, women. We have power to change minds and lives—through and to Christ Jesus. Our tentacles spread wide as we raise our children, love our husbands, set the tone in our households, interact with our friends. We are mighty warriors smack dab in the middle of the battle. It may look like just dinner tables, laundry rooms, coffee houses, bedrooms—but make no mistake about it, ours is a battlefield filled with minds, and hearts, and ears needing to hear about a Savior!
We’ve been quiet too long.
So roar a little.
Speak up for the Christ that gave you life. Share a message of Hope. Show others that sin may have kept you down but now you’re a champion—through Christ Jesus!
Quiet? Me? Hardly!!!! The consequences of that though is that my own have turned on me, as they did Jesus….yelling “Pharisee”, “Legalist”, etc.. What is expected of us is clearly written in the good book, but to protect our right to go our own path, and others on that same road, in the name of “love”, we’ll stone the ones who bring correction, who say it is not okay for leaders to be reading “Fifty Shades of Gray”, or hiding the ways that would cause others to stumble, and drunkards, phychobabblists, masquerading their way, as His, and the list goes on, and on. I sound like a crazy woman, much like Jeremiah, and I can’t let that hinder me. I’d rather be by myself than to compromise without conscience…not that I’m judging…but clearly seeing…the worldly machine so many churches have turned into, for numbers…for money, and it sickens me with grief. I weep, the way Jesus must have wept over Jerusalem, knowing her future, because of the disobedience of her people. There is so much corruption in the church…so much compromise! I know we are all broken, and not one of us worthy of His grace and love…not one of us perfect, but we will never even get close if the church doesn’t allow for accountability, repentance, and correction. Yeah, I’m roaring, and will continue to do so anytime I see the brethren opening up the door to Satan to wreak havoc because sins go unchecked, and mouths confess everything that the enemy would have us declare, rather than confessing, in faith, the Truth as God set forth…that we are more than conquerors, through Christ Jesus.
Wow Devery! Amen to you, Sista! Nope, never thought you were in the “quiet” category–haha. May we never stop roaring in the name of our Lord. Thank you for your heartfelt and passionate comment. We cannot sit idly when there is work to be done.
